5G: potentially costly, but very necessary

The importance of 5G should not be underestimated, as 5G – or fifth-generation mobile internet connectivity – promises multiple benefits, including faster data download and upload speeds, wider coverage and more stable connections. Essentially, 5G will make better use of radio spectrum to enable far more devices to access mobile internet connectivity at the same time.

The inaugural MTN Enterprise Forum, which took place on 24 July in Cape Town focused on the theme of ‘The Future of Connectivity’, and it was the view of most participants that 5G would radically transform the industry.
