The not so happy Valley

Silicon Valley is rabidly anti-Trump. That might have to change.

21 November 2016

With few exceptions, Silicon Valley is not a fan of Donald Trump. In June, a long list of technology executives endorsed a letter supporting the Clinton campaign. Tech CEOs cheering for the Democrats on the sidelines were Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook, Brian Chesky of AirBnB, Netflix's Reed Hastings, Marc Benioff from Salesforce, Drew Houston from Dropbox and Eric Schmidt of Alphabet, Google's parent company.

Schmidt's close relationship with the Democratic Party is obvious from the picture: he is shown at a Democratic Party Convention complete with a staff badge. But his relationship goes far deeper than mere endorsement: WikiLeaks made public his emails to DNC insiders just a few days before the November 8 election, showing the Alphabet CEO's high level plans to create a ‘single voter record that aggregates all that is known about them’.
