07 September 2017

Government’s purpose is not to ‘create a better life for all’. It’s about creating better lives for officials and cronies through patronage and corruption. The latest allegation, which broke in the Sunday Times in early August, involves another Zuma son, Mxolisi Saady Zuma, who tried to steer a contract for set-top box manufacture to Altech UEC, in return for a staggering R54 million ‘consultancy fee’.

According to the paper, a senior government official submitted a sworn affidavit to Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete, ‘accusing the president of lying to parliament when he said he had never introduced members of his family to government officials and ministers for business purposes’.
