Reflections and perspectives

Paul Bell, Dell EMEA President, reflects on the company`s 10 years in the local market, how South Africa stacks up to its international peers, and the impressiveness of the ICT Charter.

Depending on whom you speak to in the South African market the sentiments about Dell and its direct marketing strategy are mixed.

Invariably, customers are either convinced they are seeing massive value from cutting the middle-man out of the equation, or feel that resellers are adding good value to their businesses and as such, continue dealing through the more traditional IT channels.

Whichever way you look at it however, Dell`s business model has put substantial pressure on competitors and forced the industry into delivering more competitive pricing to the end-user.
