The benefits for attendees participating in the second annual event included insight into greater operational efficiencies and flexibility, reduced costs, improved communication channels with citizens and their local counterparts, and ultimately, improved service delivery.

nce again the attendees were treated to a prestigious line-up of speakers from across the local public sector space.

Bongani Bingwa, presenter and journalist on Carte Blanche, kept the proceedings flowing as emcee. He shared his pertinent insights throughout the morning. The expert speakers included Sello Mmakau, CIO, Airports Company SA, who discussed the ACSA's transition to a digital business for collaborative competitive service delivery; the Statistician General for South Africa, Dr Pali Lehohla, from Statistics South Africa, commented on the organisation's view pertaining to the benefits of collaboration in bringing about positive change; and Danny Naicker from the CSIR, materials science and manufacturing, addressed how this team works alongside Transnet Freight Rail, resulting in another great South African story of collaboration and R&D innovation.

The new GITOC board member, Dudley K Petersen, Department of Co-operative Governance, Department of Traditional Affairs, MISA, opened the proceedings, alongside Mandla Mzkwanazi, from Transnet and chairman of the Public Sector ICT Forum.
