Mthoko Mncwabe holds a B.Sc (Mathematics),B.Sc (Computer Science Hons) from the University of KwaZulu Natal.He also completed a Master’s in Business Administration from Milpark Business School and an Executive Development Programme through ABSA and GIBS.
Mncwabe has over 16 years of experience in the IT industry, seven of which were spent at Absa/Barclays Africa delivering and supporting numerous business and IT solutions across a diverse client portfolio which includes: strategy, service delivery, service management and infrastructure delivery.
Mncwabe‘s CIO role has shifted from one that simply focuses on the IT domain to one that includes business revenue development and the management of business operations. He has achieved a high level of proficiency in IT and management, consolidation, cost recovery, design, execution and control of strategies, vision, systems and policies, and leadership as a result. His role is evolving into one that adds value and drives efficiency in the business through direct management of application performance and ensuring the performance of business-critical applications.
Mthoko has been a tireless advocate of making broadband more accessible through Post offices point of presence. , through DTPS , SAPO is part of the SA Connect Fiber broadband project and continued expansion of the SAPO’s own fiber network.
