As if we needed yet more examples to prove how misguided government's economic policy is, the mismanaged and illiberal “managed liberalisation” policy of communications minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri has kindly obliged. Revision is good for learning, they say. True, but it also gets mighty tedious when there's so much opportunity outside the cold confines of the school hall.

This time, the attempt to open up the pay television market is hitting the wall even before it has begun. MultiChoice shareholders must be laughing their heads off.
