While enterprises wrestle with the implications of cloud for their business and IT operations, plenty of SMEs are already quite happy with the idea. Exhibit A: VIP Liquid Payroll, which went live in January and has already picked up over 100 users with little more than word-of-mouth advertising and a couple of billboards.

Liquid, part of the Softline VIP group, is headed up by Karen Schmikl, who wears another hat – that of legislative compliance consultant. She’s kicked off this particular day working with a large bank on its own payroll compliance issues at Softline’s Pretoria offices.
