Richard Hurst, who died of cancer on Saturday, had been the go-to analyst for the African ICT and telecoms markets for a decade and a half. He was 51.

Most recently with Africa Analysis – where he joined fellow analysts and founders Andre Wills and Dobek Pater as director of enterprise research in October last year – Hurst was widely respected for his insight and accessibility by the South African ICT community and the media.
