It’s time for CIOs to make themselves contenders for the top job, says Dr Pete Janse van Vuuren. Although CIOs have long been seen as important, but not necessarily leading voices in the C-suite, Janse van Vuuren says they should now start looking to position themselves as the next CEO.

Janse van Vuuren has been a long-time advocate of CIOs taking a leading role in the business. In 2002, he completed his PhD on The ‘CIO of the future’, and has worked with leading tech research groups Gartner (he sold his consultancy Meta Group to Gartner) and Forrester on the leadership role of CIOs.
