Carol Thomas was almost destined to go into aviation. She got her love for flying from her father, who, as a teenager, once ran away from home to join the Royal Air Force. “One of my earliest memories is being dragged off to airshows by my dad,” she recalls.

Nowadays, Thomas is a volunteer at the South African Air Force Museum in Pretoria and is a member of the South African Guild of Aviation, Military and Maritime Artists.
