Globally, negligent drivers kill and injure millions of people every year. South Africa is no exception. The question is: can tech make a difference, and how?

There’s a bridge in Muizenberg, in Cape Town, that ‘eats trucks’. More accurately, there’s a railway bridge with a 2.5m height restriction that tends to get trucks jammed under it.

For decades, truck drivers have somehow not only gotten their maths wrong, they have also failed to see the road signs indicating the height restrictions for the Atlantic Road Bridge, or the signs advising them to take an alternative route.
