When the concept of ‘fintech’ was first bandied about a few years ago, it was assumed that a wave of disruptive technologies would soon turn banking upside down.

The belief was that emerging technology trends like automation, blockchain and cloud computing would enable new entrants and existing players to offer new kinds of financial services and cut the cost on the products they already provide.
