Wikipedia, the world’s fifth most popular website, wants to bridge the knowledge gaps that currently exist on the online encyclopaedia.
To put the extent of this dearth in context, only 1.3% of edits on Wikipedia come from the African continent, less than 20% of all Wikipedia editors are female and only 16% of biographies on English Wikipedia are about women.
