The good, the bad and the robotic

Science fiction’s fascination with killer robots thankfully remains in the realm of fantasy. Bots in the real world – although generally beneficial – can also be twisted to multiple nefarious purposes.

Bots are programs written by humans that typically fulfil the function of a human on a digital platform. This means they’re naturally good at helping us with repetitive and monotonous tasks, but they’re far more than that.

Although we haven’t yet achieved true AI, bots and their capacity to ‘learn’ can be demonstrated through their ability to play complex games and beat world chess champions aft er only four hours of exposure to the rules. These learning capabilities allow bots to be utilised across any vertical space and through all industries – from science, medical and engineering through to lifestyle, health and wellness.
