Water disruption

When technology transforms water from contaminated to potable and changes communities and lives.

02 February 2018

There are plenty of disruptive entrepreneurs in the startup sea. Some disrupt industries, some disrupt systems, but I-Drop Water is disrupting the water supply. This company is flipping the water purification model on its head – instead of selling high-priced water filter products to a small, higher income market, I-Drop Water is selling low-priced, safe and environmentally friendly drinking water to all income levels. Using communication and water purification technology, IDrop Water is addressing one of the world’s greatest challenges – clean water.

The statistics around tainted water and the people it impacts are cause for more than a drop of concern. Around 600 children die every day because of a lack of access to safe water, and poor sanitation. Drinking water is often polluted with faecal matter, viruses, bacteria and other small contaminants that can have a severe impact on health. Adding to these statistics on the other end of the scale is the rise in plastic waste.
