Transport startup grows apace

WhereIsMyTransport is steadily finding its way onto the Cape’s public transport infrastructure.

02 April 2012

When Devin de Vries and Chris King won Microsoft’s national students developer competition five years ago with a transport tracking system, they probably didn’t think they’d still be working hard on the system today. Or perhaps they did. De Vries and King are still involved in developing and managing WhereIsMyTransport, an interactive system for commuters and transport operators in the Cape that provides feedback on where and when exactly the next bus is going to come along. When Brainstorm  first spoke to them two years ago, they were convincing UCT to use their services for its transport infrastructure. That is now up and running, complete with live informational screens.

De Vries says the platform was designed with the full range of operational requirements in mind, and can thus assist operators right from the outset to plan their routes, schedules and timetables.
