As smart sensors move closer to, and sometimes inside, our bodies, the healthcare space is set for a shakeup. But what are the risks?

The Internet of Bodies (IoB) may be a relatively new concept, and one that’s not clearly defined as yet. However, Gartner VP analyst Dr Anurag Gupta describes the growing trend rather succinctly: “What IoT is to things, IoB is to bodies.”

It’s all about the evolution of technologies, moving closer and closer to the user. We started out with big mainframe machines that occupied an entire room and were very detached from us; we moved on to desktops sitting in front of us, and then to mobile devices that we hold in our hands. The next stage is bringing computing closer to us and, eventually, becoming a part of us.
