Startups tackle problems in township economy

Winners of the AlphaCode Incubate initiative were recently announced in Johannesburg. Eight winning teams will receive R2-million each to grow their startups.

Eight South African fintech startups have been awarded R2-million each in the AlphaCode Incubate initiative, a 12 month mentorship programme which identifies and supports young entrepreneurs.

The prize is split between R1 million in cash, and services such as marketing and legal advice, worth another million.
