Eugene Kaspersky says cyber criminals are eying African targets and are launching attacks using advanced techniques and a good dose of patience.

Living and running businesses in South Africa, we often don't see ourselves as a compelling or high-value target when it comes to cyber attacks. Many companies in the region, believing themselves immune, are woefully unprepared.

Eugene Kaspersky, co-founder and chief executive officer at Kaspersky, says this is a false sense of security. "First and foremost, no country on any continent is immune to cyber threats or the risk of cyber attacks. Recent breaches that made headlines in South Africa certainly indicate that the region is a growing target. And, if we look at the numbers, based on our research, it's evident that South Africa should be concerned about the growth and evolution of cyber threats.
