MANAGING SECURITY’S WEAKEST LINK

SPONSORED: The workforce has had to change and adapt in recent months, has your security evolved too?

Human error is now the weakest link in cybersecurity, says Monique Hart, Senior Systems Engineer at VMware. “Over 90% of all successful cyber attacks occur as a result of information unknowingly provided by employees,” she explains. “This is made more challenging by today’s workfrom- home model, where employees use multiple devices and various networks. Even choosing to work from a coffee shop with unsecured public wi-fi can allow malicious individuals to harvest credential information.”

A security breach can be catastrophic for an organisation. “Your reputation is damaged, you lose the trust of your clients, and there are so many associated costs, over and above the time and money it will take to recover the data,” Hart says. “It’s far cheaper to apply good security upfront. Rather invest at the start, than have to spend more down the line to fix an avoidable problem.”
