Nomonde White-Ndlovu describes herself as a woman who has been blessed, both in life and in her career. However, she understands all too well the challenges that face ambitious women in the technology sector. “Lift as you rise is our mantra at the Forum and this anchors everything we do,” she says. “This platform is vitally important because it provides a formalised support structure through which women of all skill levels can access advice, thought leadership and engage in lively sectorial discussions and debates. Ultimately, we are enabling the development of a pipeline of skilled women within the industry.”

Traditionally, technology and engineering have been male-dominated sectors and, according to White-Ndlovu, women face a corporate culture that doesn’t do enough to advocate for their advancement. To retain female talent, technology companies must commit to making it easier for women to advance and grow their careers, and ensure that there is no drop-off of women at middle management layers.
