Returning in a digital format, Brainstorm’s next Public Sector ICT Enterprise Forum will be held on 4 December, under the theme 'Women’s Empowerment Through Technology’.
This coincides with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence currently being observed in the country. The two-hour long webinar will shine the spotlight on the strides being made by women in the industry, to remove the barriers to access for others while cementing their place as industry leaders.
Even with the industry-wide progress being made, questions remain around how new economic opportunities can be created to empower women, not only as employees, but as job-creators.
Join event host Nomonde White-Ndlovu, Absa Group’s head of governance and reporting: engineering services, as she takes the audience through panel discussions featuring some of the industry’s female trailblazers, like Dr Denisha Jairam-Owthar, the City of Johannesburg’s Metro Services chief information officer.
Jairam-Owthar has held various leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, more recently leading the City’s latest ERP systems’ compliance in line with National Treasury’s mSCOA Regulations that aim to standardise municipalities’ financial management processes.
Marote says it’s encouraging to see more youth leaders involved in high-level discussions on platforms like the Forum. “It feels good to have a voice,” she says. “Efforts are being made to bring more women into the industry. There are plenty of opportunities for us, but I think more can be done to ensure that women actually take advantage of these opportunities.”
Registration for the webinar is free. The only prerequisite is that you need to be a senior-level public sector decision-maker focused on ICT strategy.
