The VR revolution, one inch at a time

Our dazzling dreams of VR hold the tech back.

The late master of wry observations, George Carlin, once said that a cynic is a disappointed idealist. The author William Goldman (whom I've never read, but I have seen Marathon Man) called cynics "thwarted romantics". I sometimes think of these observations when I see my VR headset collecting dust in its box. Am I disappointed? Have I become a VR cynic? To be fair, my hopes were never that high in the first place.

Still, the tech continues to grow slowly in the background among militaries, academia, deep-pocketed enterprises, and quirky experiments, like the Google Cardboard phase: mounting a phone inside a cardboard headset (and many cheap plastic promotional giveaways).
