The spread of internet connectivity across Africa and the innovations that are piggybacking on top of it have rightly gained much international attention over the last decade, disrupting the well-worn narrative of Africa as a continent of war and poverty.
That new, positive story is under threat. Some African governments, notably Rwanda, are using the new tech age to develop their economies. However, others see the increased access to information and ability to connect remotely as a threat.
